A truly sophisticated processor that brings a modern polish to just about any design context. An excellent signal mutation tool that yields consistently great decimation and lo-fi effects. As with all of the Madrona Labs tools, Virta features a beautiful flat interface and powerful processing facilities.
I use it to create sfx based on a real-time physical input. Awesome at processing any source you can think of.
Also known for his music career, he has released music on Detroit Underground Records, toured with major-label bands and has built custom hand-painted circuit-bent hardware instruments for artists like DIOYY, Richard Devine, Trent Reznor, and many more.
Check out his portfolio and his company, Glitchmachines here:. I think you can download user-created instruments free and use them in Reaktor Player. As far as I remember all the instruments I used in my YouTube piece were free.
Don't you mean Timbre wrote: There are various AI apps which can learn, rather than just random variations , e. This is interesting stuff!
Not really sure if it's applicable to what I'm trying to do right now, but something to keep in mind for the future, for sure. Really what I'm looking for are those random variations - within parameters that I set. Badgie42 wrote: I have had a go at generative music. I published a long piece on YouTube here:. Will have to look into Reaktor. I also asked this on reddit, where many people recommended modular synthesis, which I suppose Reaktor also has, but does it have other generative capabilities as well?
I got a lot of recommendations for VCV Rack, which is a free "eurorack simulator" and Pure Data, which is a sort of visual programming language for sound design. If anyone has experience with some combination of those and Reaktor , what would you say are the pros and cons of each? As someone else has mentioned, the thing that comes to mind for me is NI Reaktor. We researched all options we could find to buy Native Instruments at a discount, and listed them in order.
Just follow the step by step guide to find the best option for you. Download the free Native Instruments bundle Komplete Start, which comes with 18 synths, samplers and effects, 2, presets and 6GB of samples. Download any of the available demo versions , which you can use for 30 minutes. You can close and open the plugins to have another 30 minutes. That is what I call a great deal. Before any potential purchase, we recommend you try any software first.
Native Instruments offer demo versions of some of their plugins for free but not for all. The company offers a free one month trial, which currently includes the following plugins:.
Native Instruments offers highly discounted updates from older plugin versions to newer ones. For example, here are the prices of the full version of Komplete 13, compared to update and upgrade offers:. Similar update and upgrade paths are available to owners of individual plugins, such as Guitar Rig Pro, Massive X or Kontakt. If you missed it, but can wait until next summer, that is a big saving.
None of the Komplete range, Traktor, Komplete, or Maschine hardware is offered at a student discount. As part of the purchase process, you will need to register for student status. Find out more about the Native Instruments Education Program. Once Native Instruments has approved your license transfers, you can see a list of all Transfer IDs in your account. First of all, check the seller's credentials before you part with your money, and ensure the buyer pays for the license transfer fee, which is essential for the legitimate transfer via their FabFilter account.
This includes used music software. You should find Komplete licenses on auction, including license transfer from the existing owner. You need to take some precautions, such as checking out the listing detailed description, the buyer's feedback, confirming with the seller they own the full version not an update version or not-for-resale version , and that Native Instruments have authorised a license transfer. It's made by James Clark and I really wonder what's going under the hood.
I am not a creator myself I'm only a user and I was wondering if it would sound even better if it was updated is it built using Reaktor Core? Downloading the Rob Hordijk modules are a requirement for this though — as far as utilities, logic, and a few modulators are concerned. After spending a lot of time with it though, I came to the conclusion that that is all it's is good for learning.
The stories of pain and suffering using it aren't to be taken for granted; ultimately it is a pile of shit. I have an 8 core i9, and the most modules I've been able to concurrently run at a stable buffer because when it's set too high, the clocks and sound quality become a jumbled mess indistinguishable from the offline render are maybe , however this number is actually far less than what you would get out of the average eurorack module, both in terms of functionality, power, and cv.
Sure, you can download a module that shoehorns in some kind of un-controllable polyphony, create a small level of inter-modularity, and truly badass gate patterns, but you will quickly reach the limit in terms of what is possible. Control and interface wise Kontakt and Reaktor are worthless in this regard, unless you're okay with losing your sanity.
Too scared to even open up a project for fear of my computer crashing. A eurorack modular is going to be vastly more powerful, immediate, better sounding, and probably a lot of fun, but now I have to worry about the logistics of running out of room space and the shock to my wallet. I bought Komlete 10 before buying the reaktor 6 update, and I have to say that the Abbey Road drum libraries are second to none sound-wise.
The reaktor instruments fall flat because of the control and interface reasons stated above. FM8 and Absynth badly need updating, they are a workflow killer. The reaktor instruments are overwhelming in terms of workflow and controlling, and yet it's the only way to breath any form of life into them. Something like Odessa seems to offer what one would want out of a Razor or Prism voice, but still can't get to without going eurorack.
